Augusta Golden Retrievers are bred to conform to the breed standard set forth by the Golden Retriever Club of America. The standard states that a Golden is "primarily a hunting dog". Its moderate size and friendly, willing-to-please temperament makes it an ideal companion and family dog.
Our goal is to continually produce sound, healthy dogs of above average trainability, temperament and are excellent family companions. Our dogs are of moderate size and length of coat making them a "wash and wear" dog who are "easy keepers".
We have a VERY LIMITED BREEDING PROGRAM. As such, our puppies are family raised in our home with the knowledge and hope that one of the pups will become our next "super dog". The families who receive a puppy from our litters benefit from the extra care and attention we invest into the litter.
We select sires based upon their temperament, trainability, health, longevity and natural abilities. Both the sires and dams are multi-purpose dogs who are successful in multiple areas of competition and hunting. Using this criteria we are able preserve the qualities and intelligence for which Golden Retrievers are renown.
Our ideal puppy owner is a family or person who loves dogs and enjoys being with their dog. We do not sell to commercial kennels or people who are away from home for extended periods of time. Goldens thrive when they are well-loved, well-exercised, obedience trained and included in family activities.
